3 Essential Skills To Succeed Online in 2025

Making money online is achievable for anyone with the right mindset and dedication. While technical skills like web development, graphic design, or crafting items for platforms like Etsy are often the focus, there are three foundational skills that can set you apart from the competition. These non-negotiable skills, often overlooked, are crucial for building a sustainable and lucrative online income.

High-earning freelancers and side hustlers consistently demonstrate these traits alongside their technical expertise. Here’s why these three skills are indispensable:

---

1. Storytelling

Storytelling isn’t just for novelists—it’s an essential tool for anyone looking to stand out in the digital marketplace. This skill helps you connect emotionally with your audience, making you memorable and persuading clients to choose your services or products.

For instance, if you’re an Etsy seller, don’t just list item specifications. Share the story behind your brand or what inspires your creations. If you’ve helped a customer solve a specific problem, that story can resonate with potential buyers and make your offerings more relatable.

Storytelling builds your personal brand and infuses authenticity into your marketing, creating a lasting impression that drives sales and client loyalty.

---

2. Time Management

Time is money, especially for freelancers and online entrepreneurs. Effective time management ensures you stay organized, meet deadlines, and balance multiple projects without burning out.

This skill becomes even more critical if you’re juggling freelancing alongside a full-time job. Prioritizing tasks, saying no to distractions, and working smarter—not harder—are the keys to maximizing your productivity.

Top earners find ways to streamline their workflows, allowing them to focus on scaling their businesses, improving their skills, and exploring new revenue streams. Strong time management enhances client satisfaction and gives you the bandwidth to grow sustainably.

---

3. Confident Communication

Clear and confident communication is essential for building trust with clients and establishing long-term relationships. It’s not about being boastful; it’s about articulating the value of your work and setting clear expectations.

Whether negotiating rates or explaining the creative process behind a project, clear communication reassures clients and inspires confidence in your abilities. For example, a graphic designer who explains their design choices will leave a stronger impression than one who simply delivers the final product without context.

Poor communication can lead to misunderstandings and lost opportunities, so honing this skill is vital for success in any online venture.

---

The Foundation for Success

Storytelling, time management, and confident communication may not be as glamorous as technical skills, but they are the glue that holds a thriving online business together. Combine these foundational abilities with your technical expertise, and you’ll position yourself as a leader in your industry.

In 2025 and beyond, mastering these skills will not just help you survive in the competitive online landscape—it will enable you to thrive.

I Used to Drink Diet Soda Daily — Here’s What I Learned After Cutting Back and What I Drink Now!

Diet sodas and ultra-processed foods: The concerns
Ultra-processed foods (UPFs), including diet sodas sweetened with artificial ingredients, have been linked to potential health risks. Although I used to drink diet soda almost daily, I decided to cut back for my long-term health. Dietitian Nichola Ludlam-Raine highlighted some concerns during a conversation:

1. Health risks of UPFs: UPFs often contain ingredients and processes not found in home cooking. Diet sodas, while marketed as healthier alternatives to sugary drinks, aren't exactly "health drinks."

2. Dental health risks: Diet sodas are acidic, which can harm teeth over time.

3. Gradual reduction is key: Ludlam-Raine suggested cutting back slowly—reducing from daily consumption to just a couple of times per week. She emphasized moderation rather than eliminating them completely.

Inspired by this advice, I decided to reduce my diet soda intake. Here's what I learned during the process.

---

1. Healthier drinks can be more expensive
A big part of my habit was convenience: I loved grabbing a cold can of soda after lunch. However, when I switched to healthier options like sparkling water infused with natural fruit juice or herbal teas, I noticed they were generally pricier than diet sodas and often came in smaller quantities.

Still, these alternatives made a difference. Brands like Dash Water, Aqua Libra, Dalston's, and Cawston Press became my go-to options.

2. My tastebuds adjusted over time
At first, fruit-infused sparkling water felt bland compared to the bold sweetness of diet sodas. But over time, I began to enjoy the subtle, natural flavors. Eventually, I even became more sensitive to the artificial taste of diet drinks, making it easier to stick to healthier options.

3. I craved sugary snacks less
While I can't definitively prove the connection, I noticed I craved sweet treats like cookies less often after reducing diet soda. Ludlam-Raine explained that artificial sweeteners like aspartame or sucralose might increase cravings for sugary foods in some people.

When I skipped the diet soda, I found myself reaching for healthier snacks like apples with peanut butter instead. I also avoided the mistake of suppressing hunger with diet sodas, which can disrupt balanced eating habits and lead to overeating later.

---

Final thoughts
Reducing my diet soda consumption hasn’t been a perfect journey, but it’s been worthwhile. I feel good knowing I’m making a small but meaningful change for my health by cutting back on UPFs. Plus, discovering new drinks I genuinely enjoy has made the transition easier than I expected.

For anyone looking to reduce their diet soda intake, gradual changes and experimenting with alternatives can make all the difference. Remember, it’s about progress, not perfection!

3 Remote Jobs That Pay You to Travel in 2025!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work remotely and get paid to travel, jet, hike, or cruise the world? Sounds like an idealistic dream career, right? The good news is that you can get paid and have a lucrative career, not only while working on the go but also because you are working on the go. Yes, there are remote jobs that actually pay you to travel the world.

These roles thrive on travel, which means these remote jobs are perfect for digital nomads, freelancers, and those seeking to build a side hustle while on the move.

Indeed, working remotely doesn't get any better than this:

1. Remote Freelance Travel Consultant
Travel agents (or consultants, as they are sometimes called) provide advisory services to clients (including corporate clients, everyday families, and wedding parties) to help them secure the best deals for their vacations and trips worldwide. They provide detailed itineraries, research attractions and activities in the area, and organize and coordinate every step of the journey so it is as hassle-free as possible while being good value for money. To be a travel consultant, you'll need to have a few things under your belt:

A passion for all things travel, exploring the world, and sightseeing
Thorough organization and project management skills with a personal touch
Undertaking travel or tourism-focused courses or even a degree
Working for a host agency or becoming a franchisee
First-hand experience of at least some of the destinations that you're selling to your clients—that's the travel part!
Forbes Advisor recommends "taking the Travel Agent Proficiency (TAP®) test from The Travel Institute," and if you're willing to push your limits even further, "consider completing the Certified Travel Associate (CTA®) training."

2. Remote Travel Writer/Blogger
If you are a freelance writer for travel-focused publications, the travel section of a lifestyle magazine, or just writing content for your travel blog, you can turn this into cash. Here are a few ways:

Writing content offering actionable advice, hacks, and recommendations for avid or newbie travelers that contains affiliate links to helpful products they will need to ensure a seamless and comfortable journey and vacation experience
Linking your content to your services as a freelance travel agent or consultant
Getting paid by clients to write travel advice and related content
3. Content Creator
Another remote job that thrives on travel and working from anywhere in the world is that of a content creator. Content creators allow audiences to view the world through a unique lens, offering a fun, inspirational, and educational angle to raise awareness for critical issues, inspire action, drive change, and sell products and services.

You can become a content creator or social media influencer based on your passion, skill, or hobby, travel-related or otherwise. But if you wanted to focus on your experiences as a digital nomad or use your social media platform to talk about all things travel and boost your presence as a travel consultant, why not?

The coolest thing about being a content creator is that it can be done from anywhere, even while traveling. With your phone, laptop, camera, and a strong internet connection nearby, you can create, edit, and publish outstanding-quality content on the go. You can also get paid for engagement (as with YouTube), for purchases (as with incorporating affiliate links), and even create content for other brands—which is an in-demand service right now.

Businesses are doubling down on digital marketing efforts and investing in content marketing, with projections for the 2026 content marketing budget reaching $107 billion. Meanwhile, influencer marketing—hiring influencers (mega content creators) to represent brands and products—is also picking up steam, with both large and medium-sized organizations spending billions of dollars on this marketing medium and the global spending tripling since 2019, according to Statista.

These three remote jobs allow you to maintain flexibility with work hours, work from anywhere in the world, and appreciate and truly experience the world around you while sharing your experiences with others.

28-year-old spent $30,000 to launch a business from her living room—now it brings in $9 million a year.

Jenny Lei looked at the towering stack of cardboard boxes in her Hoboken, New Jersey, apartment. She’d spent $30,000 on handbags and needed a new strategy to sell them.

An unemployed UX designer, Lei had taken it upon herself to create the perfect work bag. She spent months designing a prototype before ordering a production run. Four weeks later, she’d only sold 20 totes.

“My plan failed spectacularly,” says Lei. “I couldn’t afford to not make it work. [A lot] of my savings were sitting in boxes in my living room.”

Today, Lei is the 28-year-old CEO and founder of Freja, a New York-based company that sells work totes, shoulder purses and travel accessories. The 4-year-old startup brought in more than $9 million in revenue over the last 12 months, including $2 million in profit, according to documents reviewed by CNBC Make It.

Lei is Freja’s only full-time employee, alongside five contract workers. She credits her company’s growth — not easy, in the highly competitive fashion industry — to cultivating loyal customers, drawing them in with minimalistic bag designs and a public commitment to environmental sustainability.

“From the beginning, I thought, ‘Does the world even need another handbag brand?’ Not really, if I’m going to do things the way that everyone else has,” Lei says. “But I thought if I could do it in a way that felt really good to me, and would resonate with a certain group of people ... it was worth the try, right?”

Here’s how Lei turned hundreds of unsold bags into a profitable luxury handbag company, despite her lack of fashion experience.

A ‘really, really slow’ start
In February 2019, Lei was a soon-to-be-unemployed graduate student at Cornell University preparing for a job interview in New York. She tried pairing three different work bags with her outfit, and none of them worked. One was too small. Another didn’t offer enough interior organization.

It was like “when your apartment is messy and you can’t think straight,” Lei says. “What I wear is a big part of my confidence ... It felt like I went in on the wrong foot, when I was already nervous.”

After the interview, Lei sat in Bryant Park and sketched out a structured bag with interior compartments for her laptop and portfolio, and a strap long enough to fit over a winter coat. She dipped into her savings — $300,000, gained from a purse dropshipping side hustle she ran during graduate school — to order a $2,000 prototype from a sample maker in Brooklyn.

Freja works with a factory that specializes in a type of vegan leather often used in electric vehicles, Lei says.Courtesy of Jenny Lei
The result “looked like a kindergartener’s art project,” says Lei. So when she visited her parents in Guangzhou, China, that summer, she toured factories that specialized in vegan leather. She chose the factory that was the most communicative and transparent about its working conditions, she says.

“As a Chinese person, I wanted Freja to kind of be my way of showing the world this is what ‘Made in China’ can look like,” says Lei.

She ordered an initial run of 300 bags, created a website, started a marketing campaign to collect potential customers’ email addresses and wrote blog posts about Freja’s values and practices. Sales flopped: It took Lei a year to offload her inventory, she says.

Feeling financially pressured, Lei doubled down — ordering a second run of inventory, which featured a second bag design, and investing more into a harder social media advertising push.

“It was really, really slow for the first two years,” says Lei.

Surviving in a cutthroat industry
In 2022, Lei finally sold enough bags — largely through social media ads — to bring in $1.7 million in annual revenue. She spent that money, along with two loans from Shopify, on a broader array of bag designs, hoping to expand her target audience beyond environmentally conscious working women.

The results were near-immediate. Freja brought in $5.3 million last year, becoming cash-flow positive enough to pay off both Shopify loans. The company is on track to finish 2024 with $12 million in annual revenue this year, says Lei.

Yet within the context of the $22.8 billion global luxury handbag market, Freja barely registers as a competitor. LMVH, which owns designer labels like Louis Vuitton, Dior, Celine and Loewe, made $16.85 billion in U.S. dollars in net profit last year. Other established brands, like Sandy Liang and Alaia, sell stylistically similar bags as Freja, too.

The steep competition means that merely surviving is a best-case scenario for most niche fashion brands, says Katie Weir, a consumer and luxury industry strategist at Deloitte. Staying relevant over time “is really, really hard, particularly in this space,” she says.

Startups that stick around constantly evolve to keep up with fashion trends and consumer desires, Weir notes. Lei hopes to achieve that by hosting events to build customer loyalty, becoming a small-business mentor to other young women and using a growing array of bag styles to capture a wider audience.

“One thing I kept telling myself was, ‘No one is born a designer,’ but I can become one in a couple of years if I give it a go,” says Lei. “I think now maybe this year I can start calling myself a designer ... I think we’ve hit a stride.”

Conversions from EUR to USD were done using the OANDA conversion rate of 1 EUR to 1.05612 USD on November 19, 2024. All amounts are rounded to the nearest dollar.

An Inspiring Effort to Protect Nature!

In a country where trees are often sacrificed for development, some places in Bangladesh still showcase genuine care for the environment. Imagine encountering trees standing tall in the middle of a road—untouched and thriving. While it may seem rare, such sights exist, particularly in Teknaf, and they serve as powerful reminders of our responsibility to protect nature.

Last weekend, I visited Jahajpura, a village in Teknaf surrounded by a lush Garjan forest. Located just 500 meters from the beach, this forest stands beside a road running through the villages along Marine Drive. The towering Garjan trees, over 50 meters tall and estimated to be more than 150 years old, provide natural shade with their umbrella-like canopy. These trees, found in Teknaf and parts of Chakaria, are vital to the ecosystem. Locals attribute their survival through natural disasters and climate hazards to these ancient trees, which have become a part of the region’s heritage.

Remarkably, when a road through Jahajpura was being constructed, the local community insisted that the trees not be cut. The road was built around the trees, preserving the forest with minimal disruption. This thoughtful decision exemplifies how collective action can protect nature even in unconventional circumstances.

Maruf-Al-Kawsar, a local youth, shared how the forest was once a haven for birds and wildlife, where chirping and fluttering filled the air. However, over the years, the forest has become less dense, and wildlife sightings have diminished. This highlights the need to protect such ecosystems before they are lost forever.

Old trees are crucial to the environment, producing more oxygen and absorbing more carbon dioxide than younger ones. The preservation of the Garjan trees in Teknaf offers hope, showing that some communities understand the irreversible damage caused by deforestation.

However, the natural beauty along Marine Drive is at risk due to unplanned and excessive tourism. Cox’s Bazar, home to the world’s longest uninterrupted beach, is already witnessing the environmental costs of overdevelopment, as seen in the concrete sprawl of Kolatoli. If similar patterns occur along Marine Drive, it could have devastating consequences for the local ecosystem.

The solution lies in well-planned and regulated eco-tourism that prioritizes environmental preservation. Balancing development with sustainability is not just an option—it is a necessity to ensure that places like Teknaf’s Garjan forest continue to inspire and thrive for generations to come.

Chuizhal Tastes Best In Mustard Oil!

Authentic Chuizhal does not require onion. Cooking is done entirely in oil. And the amount of this oil is very high. About 300 ml per kg.

For 2 kg of meat approx

4 tablespoons of ginger

2 tablespoons of garlic

4-5 days soaked dried chili blend and put it in the meat.

2 tsp turmeric powder

1.5 tbsp chili powder (to taste)

2 tbsp coriander powder

1.5 tbsp cumin powder

amount likesalt

Cardamom 10/12 o'clock

2 large cinnamon sticks

5-6 cloves

2 bay leaves

About 550-600 ml of oil

Knead and cover in oven. Boil the meat in the water that comes out of the meat. When the water is absorbed, cook it in oil. Stir constantly so it doesn't stick to the bottom. Add chives and whole garlic. Add little hot water. Cover and cook on low flame for 3-4 minutes. Be careful not to stick down.

Here let's say what water is added in authentic cookingno Whole is cooked in oil. But we who cook small amount of meat at home have to add water. Because more water comes out of the meat during cooking.

When the garlic and garlic are cooked, add the previously prepared tala garam masala (3-4 cardamoms, 1 big black cardamom, 2 pieces of cinnamon, 3-4 cloves, 10-12 peppercorns, 2 teaspoons of cumin seeds). Sprinkle some onion and take it down. With hot riceEat hot.

Baked Chicken With Potatoes & Lemon!

Baked chicken with potatoes and lemon
Pollo al Forno with Potato and Limone
Makes 4 servings
One of my favorite restaurants on the island of Capri is Da Paolino, located in a lemon orchard. One evening, my husband and I were enjoying a quiet, dinner by candlelight when suddenly a big ripe lemon from the tree above us crashed into a glass, splashing water all over the table.
I think about this incident every time I make this lemon chicken. It's a typical home-style dish made throughout southern Italy, where citrus fruits are abundant.
2 medium lemons
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon chopped rosemary
2 cloves garlic, chopped
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 chicken (about 3 1⁄2 pounds ) cut into 8 servings
1 pound all-purpose potatoes, peeled and cut into eighths
1. Place a rack in the center of the oven. Preheat the oven to 450°F. Oil a
a mold large enough to hold all the ingredients in a single layer.
2. Cut a lemon into thin slices. Squeeze the juice from the remaining lemon
in a medium bowl.
3. Add to the bowl the oil, rosemary, garlic, salt and pepper to taste and
whisk until combined.
4. Rinse the chicken pieces and pat dry. Place the chicken in the pan. Pour
the lemon juice mixture over the chicken, turning the pieces to coat everything. Arrange the chicken pieces skin side up. Tuck in the potatoes and lemon slices around the chicken.
5. Bake chicken for 45 minutes. Baste with pan juices. Continue to bake, basting occasionally, for 15 minutes longer or until chicken is browned and potatoes are tender.
6. Transfer the contents of the pan to a serving dish. Pour the juices over the chicken and serve.

12 Important Benefits Of Drinking Smoothies!

Helps You Lose Weight

Healthy smoothies just may be the secret to losing weight - and keeping it off. Raw fruits and vegetables are the cornerstones of any diet, and this is where smoothies deliver. Try green smoothies made with at least 50% veggies to keep calories low and flavor high. You can really amp up your green smoothie by mixing in a dash of matcha green tea powder for some extra pizazz.

Prevents Dehydration

Sipping on a smoothie is a great way to stave away dehydration. Not only will the liquid component of your smoothie keep you hydrated, but the electrolytes found in many fruits and veg will also help keep your body in balance. For the best benefits, reach for a smoothie made with coconut water, unsweetened almond milk, or watermelon.

Makes You Feel Full

Do you feel peckish between meals? Next time you feel a snack attack coming on, reach for a healthy smoothie instead. Smoothies are loaded full of fiber and roughage which will help keep hunger pangs at bay. A smoothie recipe high in protein, such as with added nut butter or protein powder will also help keep tummies from rumbling.

Controls Cravings

Have a sweet tooth that just won't quit? Find yourself daydreaming about dangerous deserts? Next time you find yourself tempted by unhealthy snacks or sweets, try fruit smoothies instead. Fruit smoothies will provide you with a healthy energy hit to help you control cravings and stay on track. If you want something even more indulgent - try a chocolate peanut butter smoothie, made with coconut milk cocoa powder, frozen banana, protein powder, and peanut butter.

Because they are made with whole produce, smoothies contain a bunch of fiber- one of the most important players in digestive health. Start your day on the right foot with a healthy breakfast smoothie made with all sorts of fresh and frozen fruit and veggies.

Boosts Brain Power

Fighting against brain fog? Just can't concentrate? Antioxidants and natural sugars found in fruits such as pomegranates and blueberries are marvelous for sharpening mental focus. High in special kinds of antioxidants (called anthocyanins), these fruits have even been proposed as combaters against neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's and dementia. Blend up a healthy brain power smoothie next time you can't concentrate and leave the brain fog behind.
