The age of the universe is about 14 billion years - we often hear this information. But according to Einstein's theory of relativity, the time is relative and flows differently for different observers. That is, because the time flow is slow to an observer traveling around a heavy black hole or almost light speed, the universe is supposed to be older. But that is not the case.
InHow can scientists say with certainty that the universe is 14 billion years old, and it will be the same from any place in the universe? The answer is hidden in a concept called cosmic time.
The measure of the time from the birth of the universe to the present is called cosmic time. It is a kind of universal watch, which has consistently calculated every moment from the Big Bang since today. But this time we are ordinary watchI do not understand with the help of time.
This is because the expansion of the universe, theory of relativity, and the dynamics of the cosmic objects are complex in this period.
A principle of expansion of the universe works, cosmological principals. It says, on a large scale, the universe looks the same in the whole. Suppose you started to swallow it in a balloon to the point of different colors.
If the balloon is swollen every point will move away from each other(Like the expansion of the universe). Here, the time of the balloon swelling is the time it takes to swell the Big Bang and the balloon is spacecraft. Regardless of the distance of each point (or galaxy), the time of time is the same for everyone - how long it has passed since the start of the ballon.
In the same way, no matter where you are, you will see the distant galaxies move evenly away from you. This is the cosmic timeCreates the foundation. The way the universe has been expanding since the Big Bang is considered as a universal frame.
Here all the comoving observer (those who have accepted their speed with this expansion of the universe) combine their local time with cosmic time. As a result, all the time spent from the Big Bang is the same for the comventing observer.
That is the actual age of the universe this comning observerIt is measured. Because all comging observer cosmic time flows at the same speed!
It’s the consistent, universal timeline that all galaxies—and all of us, riding along with the expansion—agree on. It’s why we can all point to the same moment of the Big Bang.
Some ideas just rewire your brain. This is one of them.
