Let’s be honest for a second…
Not every “make money online” idea is worth your time. Some feel exciting at first—but end up draining your energy for very little return.
Even though I already work from home, I still enjoy finding simple ways to earn extra cash on the side. But over time, have learned to filter out what’s actually worth trying… and what’s just noise.
So if you're looking for something flexible, low-pressure, and genuinely useful for extra income — these 5 platforms are definitely worth a look.
No hype. Just real options 👇
Note that these are not in order from best to worst.
💻 Clickworker — Simple Tasks, Real Flexibility
Clickworker is a legit site that pays you to do small online tasks from home. These can include short writing tasks, basic research, sorting data, and simple surveys.
It’s easy to get started. You sign up for free, fill out your profile, and take a few short assessments to unlock more tasks. Once approved, you can log in and work whenever tasks are available.
There are no set hours, so it’s flexible and works well for extra cash.
Clickworker is not meant to replace a full-time job, but it usually pays better than typical survey sites and offers more variety. Payments are sent by PayPal or bank transfer, and while work can be inconsistent, it could be a decent option to use when you want to earn a little extra.
🧪 uTest — Get Paid to Test Apps & Websites
uTest is a digital software testing community that lets you sign up (free) as a tester.
As a member, you will occasionally get matched up to paid testing projects (testing apps, websites, games, and so forth). You don't have to accept the projects you're invited to, but the more you do, the more you can make.
Depending on the project, you may only earn a few dollars for your time, or you may earn well over one hundred. It will ultimately depend on how complex the project is (length of time, your level of involvement, etc.).
They pay twice monthly once the projects you participated in are complete, and they do appear to be open to testers worldwide.
🎧 UserTesting — Share Your Thoughts, Get Paid
You can sign up with UserTesting and get paid to leave your honest feedback on websites, apps, and digital products. Companies of all sizes use the platform to find out how real people experience what they’ve built.
Many recorded tests pay around $10 for about 20 minutes, though shorter surveys may pay less. UserTesting also offers live video conversations, which pay more but require scheduling and approval.
Payments are made via PayPal after your tests are completed and approved, often within a few days.
One downside is that tests aren’t always available, and when they are, you usually have to grab them quickly. You’ll also need to answer short screener questions to see if you qualify.
UserTesting rewards consistency — the more tests you complete successfully, the better your rating, and the more invites you’re likely to receive. It can take time to build up, but some users do earn a few hundred dollars per month with patience.
🔬Prolific — Easy Studies That Pay Fairly
People on the Beer Money Reddit are continually singing the praises of Prolific. You can join as a research participant and earn fair money for very easy work – studies and tasks.
The downside is that everyone KNOWS this site is good, and for that reason there is a waitlist to sign up. Some people have been on it for over two years!! I, myself, am also on the waitlist and have been for probably eight months.
Still, it's worth getting on it. Regarding payment, the site says: “All participants receive a guaranteed minimum of $8 or £6 an hour, with instant cash-outs after your first 4 payments. Some studies even pay hourly rates of $20+ with additional bonuses.”
And yes, they are open worldwide!
I would additionally recommend joining User Interviews and Respondent (two similar sites that may accept you faster that also have great reviews and pay very well).
⚙️Amazon MTurk — Old but Still Useful
This site has been around forever, and I've made some money there myself over the years. Some people love it, some people hate it.
I was never a full-time Turker, but my personal opinion was that it IS worth it if you're lucky enough to get in on an easy, fair-paying task from a reputable requester. But that doesn't always happen.
Still, most of the people on Beer Money who earn $100+ a month extra on extra cash sites are using Mturk here and there to get that.
If you don't already have an account with them, registering for one doesn't mean you'll be approved. They are not always accepting new Turkers. But you can try again later if they don't need you at this time.
🌱 Final Thought
You don’t need something complicated to start earning extra money.
Sometimes, it’s just about using your spare time a little differently — testing, clicking, sharing your opinion… all from home.
No pressure. No big commitments. Just small steps that add up over time.
