Convert Inspiration into Action:A Reflection on Life & Death!

While scrolling through the homepage, my attention was caught by a piece of news from Dainik Ittefaq. I paused, stunned, as a shiver ran through my body.

The headline read:
"Ex-guitarist of a band dies while playing guitar."

La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah. What a tragic and sobering reminder of the reality of death! Can you imagine?

Some people dedicate their lives to prayer, pleading with Allah to grant them a blessed ending. Their heartfelt supplication: *“O Allah! Let my final words at the moment of death be ‘La ilaha illallah.’” Others aspire for their last moments to be spent in prostration, their foreheads touching the ground in devotion. And by Allah's mercy, these individuals often meet their end exactly as they wished.

This teaches us an important lesson: a beautiful death, a "death with faith," is not a mere coincidence. It is the culmination of a lifetime spent in obedience, devotion, and steadfastness.

Now consider this: while one person leaves this world reciting the testimony of faith, La ilaha illallah, another takes their final breath playing a guitar.

The contrast is stark, and it compels us to reflect on the life we are living and the kind of death we are preparing for.

I’ll conclude with a profound hadith:

Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say:

"On the Day of Resurrection, every person will be raised in the state in which they died."
(Sahih Muslim: 2878; Ahmad: 14134)

Reflect deeply on this. Imagine standing before Allah in the same state you were in at the moment of death.

May Allah guide us to a life of righteousness and grant us a beautiful ending. Ameen.

La hawla wa la quwwata illa billahil azeem.

– Shabib Tashfi Hafi

Takeaway:
Let this serve as a reminder to align your actions with your ultimate purpose in life. Focus on deeds that will bring you closer to Allah, as the way we live will shape the way we depart.

The Man Who Invented The "Psychopath"?

The Man Who Invented the “Psychopath”? Hervey Cleckley, an influential psychiatrist, is often credited with shaping modern understandings of psychopathy, even though his original intent was to help rather than stigmatize those affected. His 1941 work, The Mask of Sanity, was pivotal, as it introduced the concept of the psychopath as a specific personality type with 16 distinct traits. Cleckley described individuals who seemed outwardly rational but exhibited shallow emotions, lacked empathy, and engaged in destructive behaviors, though often without malice. Cleckley’s perspective was initially sympathetic; he saw these individuals as “forgotten” by psychiatry—people who needed understanding and treatment. However, as psychopathy entered the public lexicon, the term was quickly associated with malice, violence, and even inhumanity. Cleckley’s nuanced portrait of the psychopath was adapted by later researchers like Robert Hare, who created the widely used Psychopathy Checklist, a t...
